1 note

It has ARRIVED!!!!

After many weeks of patiently waiting my sketchbook has finally reached my hands! My first book went to another participant in Ottawa so I had to email for a replacement book and it is finally here!! I am so excited to start but there are so many things running through my head before I actually put pen to paper!

I have so many questions that are running rapid through my brain! Should I be using pen? Pencil Crayon? Ink? Paint? Should I be re-binding it with new paper? Should I cut and paste things in? Should I be starting at the back and making my way to the front of the book? Should I draw on the front AND back of the paper? Should I be using fabric?  THE POSSIBILITIES are endless!!! I know that this is a SKETCHBOOK but how do I know how many people are going to be looking at it?? I have to take my time and utilize my skills as an artist! You never know I might become super duper famous from this awesome project and will have to fly my private jet all over…!!  (<—— ok maybe that was a little tooo far into the future, but you get the point.)  This is such an opportunity that might possibly open new doors to me or  if not just open spark some creativity!

I can’t wait to start!! If you have any suggestions… suggest away!! I am open to considering anything (I do have the final say so don’t be offended if I don’t use your idea! I still love you!) I have approx. 86 or so days to fill this sketchbook with what seems to have 60+ pages. Which means I have to do a sketch every 1.5 days (if my math is correct) so I better get CRACKING :)

I also have my very own library card :) It’s too exciting!!!

Stay tuned for exciting pictures etc!

Patiently Waiting

It’s like a concert tour but with sketchbooks

I have decided to join “The Sketchbook Project 2011”. I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my sketchbook so I can start sketching!! I have chosen the theme from a list of potential possibilities. I chose “in 5 mins”. I plan on logging my updates and new sketching that I complete in my sketchbook so check back for updates! I can’t wait to start!!

Each artist is sent the same blank Moleskine sketchbook. We’ve only got two rules: first, the book must be used in some way - no sending us back an empty book or a completely different book! Second, the sketchbook must stay within its original dimensions (because we don’t want to have to provide an extra suitcase just for your book while we’re touring the country).

Each book will be given a barcode so we can easily catalog it into The Brooklyn Art Library system. Once we catalog it, artists will be able to track where on the tour their book is viewed and how many times someone pulled it from the shelf - we want to make sure you can stay connected with your sketchbook!

The availability of sketchbooks vary each day, so sign up quickly to reserve the one you want! You have the option to choose the kind of Moleskine and the color of the cover when you add the project to your cart over to the right.
